Power quality solution

Case

Power quality for companies is crucial and essential for some segments, we can mention examples such as "hospitals, data centers, clinics, among others", this is because units like these use equipment that is sensitive to variations in the electrical network, which can damage or even compromise their operation and cause countless losses, if they do not pay attention to the level of "power quality".

Many companies in Brazil have invested in the last 4 years in"own energy generation known as distributed generation", and many began to have problems with energy quality after the implementation of excess reactive consumption on the energy bill, which did not happen before.

"This occurs because the photovoltaic plant starts to supply active power to the load and the reactive power continues to be supplied by the distributor's network. This causes the input substation meter to “see” a low power factor even without there having been a change in the reactive power supplied."

For a tolerance range and control of the load power factor, good knowledge of the type, model and operating layout in a unit with distributed generation is required.

Expert Energy was faced with the need to solve a problem for the company Grupo Zulmira Ambiental the efficiency in controlling the power factor together with the 225KWp distributed generation plant, and before the company invested in this generation, there was no excess reactive consumption cost and after installation it began to register a "high cost", making the investment unfeasible, making the pay-back longer and thus harming the initial study.

Expert Energy carried out a detailed study, mapping all the loads, and then presented the solution using the control equipment in its portfolio known as SVG - Gerador Static Var, a fully integrated system with effective control of non-linear loads, millisecond actuation action "solving" exceeded reactive consumption as well as improving energy quality with network harmonics, ensuring greater reliability and safety to the unit's electrical system.
